Jinkai Xue is an assistant professor in Environmental Systems Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering & Applied Science of the University of Regina, SK, Canada. Prior to the University of Regina, Jinkai was an associate professor in the School of Civil Engineering of Sun Yat-Sen University in China. From 2016 to 2018, Jinkai performed his postdoctoral research at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (U.S.A.) and the University of Waterloo (Canada), respectively. He earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta (Canada) in 2016, Master’s degrees at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) (Saudi Arabia) in 2012, and Bachelor’s degree at Tongji University (China) in 2009. Jinkai’s research interests lie in water and wastewater treatment. Since his graduate study, Jinkai has been focusing on the removal of emerging and recalcitrant organic contaminants from various water matrices using a range of technologies, including ozonation, membrane filtration, biodegradation, and so on. He is currently working on membrane fouling mechanisms and sustainable wastewater treatment/reuse.
