Jianpeng (Jim) Zhou, Ph.D. P.E. BCEE, has been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in Civil Engineering at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, effective July 1, 2008. Dr. Zhou graduated with B.Eng. and M.Eng. in Environmental Engineering from Tsinghua University, China; M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of British Columbia, Canada, and started his academic career at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2002. His research interests are in the areas of wastewater treatment with a focus on wastewater sludge handling and treatment, biosolids management and beneficial application. Prior to joining academia, Dr. Zhou was a consulting engineer for over seven years in Canada. He is a registered Professional Engineer and a board certified specialist (BCEE) in water supply and wastewater with the American Academy of Environmental Engineers.
